Fracture Repair
We are able to undertake the majority of fracture repairs following x-rays at your normal vets. We use a range of plate, pins, screws and external skeletal fixators to get your pet back to full function as soon as possible.
Cruciate ligament surgery - Lateral Suture/TTA/CCWO
Cruciate ligament disease is very common, however, the best management is not certain. Various techniques are employed to best manage the problem in your pet, accounting for their individual anatomy and in discussion with you.
Medial Patellar Luxation
A very common disease of small dogs but occasionally large dogs too. Multi level surgery is utilised to address numerous problems that contribute. Some animals have such severe deformities that extensive surgery is needed.
Femoral Head and Neck Excision
A procedure which can be used to manage a variety of issues with the hip joint in small dogs and cats. Animals cope well without a boney hip joint but post-opertaive physiotherapy is important for good outcomes.
Arthrodesis
A procedure where joints are fused. Most commonly performed at the carpus or tarsus, either partial to complete (pan-). Complex fractures and ligament instability may necessitate this procedure.
Total Ear Canal Ablation
This is a last resort surgery for uncontrollable infections of the ear resulting in pain and hearing loss.
Salivary Mucocele
This is a collection of saliva in the tissues of the neck, most commonly originating from the mandibular and subligunal salivary gland. Removal of the affected gland is needed for resolution.
Perineal Hernia Repair
Older entire male dogs most commonly suffer with perineal hernias. Replacement of any herniated tissue and repair of the hernia, often using a muscle flap is needed to reduce signs of straining. Castration is also performed to reduce any contribution of prostate enlargement to straining.
Advanced Mass Removals
Surgery is the mainstay of treatment for most cancers diagnosed in animals. The first surgery gives the best chance of removing the mass in its entirety to give the best long term prognosis.
