Vet Surgery Services
Expert Care Your Pet
About
We offer advanced orthopaedic and soft tissue procedures including laparoscopy (key hole) in conjunction with your normal vet, avoiding long travel and unfamiliar environments for your pet.

Our Surgeon
Elliott graduated from the RVC in 2015 with honours, since graduating he has maintained an interest in surgery and undertaken further training in this area including 2 year-long internships in specialist referral centres. He has completed the BSAVA Small Animal Surgery Postgraduate certificate passing with commendation and regularly attends further training courses alongside this to maintain and gain further knowledge.
Vet Surgery Services works in conjunction with your vet to provide surgical interventions that they are not able to undertake, this avoids travelling long distances to referral centres and allows post operative care in an environment your pet is more familiar with. We can arrange a pre-operative consultation at your usual vets to examine your pet and discuss their problem in detail before deciding on a treatment plan going forward, alternatively if the diagnosis is certain the surgery can be booked straight away to minimise delay.

How We Work

Your vet will need to contact us if they think your pet could benefit from our services.
Operating as an ambulatory service keeps our overheads low and costs are minimised. The overall cost will be a combination of fixed fees from Vet Surgery Services and your normal vets for use of drugs, theatre space and nursing staff. A detailed estimate can be provided prior to any surgery.
Elliott will normally examine your pet on the day of surgery and discuss the plan in detail. Afterwards a written report with post-operative care will be provided. Follow up can be with your normal vets who can contact us with any questions.
Services
Vet Surgery Services is able to perform a wide range of procedures at your vets at an affordable cost, much lower than a specialist referral centre.
Fracture Repair
We are able to undertake the majority of fracture repairs following x-rays at your normal vets. We use a range of plate, pins, screws and external skeletal fixators to get your pet back to full function as soon as possible.
Cruciate ligament surgery - Lateral Suture/TTA/CCWO
Cruciate ligament disease is very common, however, the best management is not certain. Various techniques are employed to best manage the problem in your pet, accounting for their individual anatomy and in discussion with you.
Medial Patellar Luxation
A very common disease of small dogs but occasionally large dogs too. Multi level surgery is utilised to address numerous problems that contribute. Some animals have such severe deformities that extensive surgery is needed.
Femoral Head and Neck Excision
A procedure which can be used to manage a variety of issues with the hip joint in small dogs and cats. Animals cope well without a boney hip joint but post-opertaive physiotherapy is important for good outcomes.
Laparoscopy
Laparoscopy, or keyhole surgery, is increasingly used in veterinary medicine. Procedures performed include spay (ovariectomy), cryptorchid castrate, liver biopsy, laparoscopic assisted gastropexy. Smaller incisions mean less pain and quicker return to function.
And More!
Vet Surgery Services is able to carry out a wide range of other procedures in suitable cases.
